Alemtsehay Degaga Asfaw has been serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Insurance Company of Ethiopia, S.C. (NICE), where she is leading strategic initiatives and driven organizational growth. Prior to this, she was the Director of the Reinsurance Department at NICE, overseeing critical risk management processes. Her extensive experience also includes roles as Reinsurance Division Manager and Reinsurance Section Head at NICE, showcasing her deep expertise in the insurance sector. Her career began as an Operations Officer at NICE, providing her with a strong foundation in operational management. Alemtsehay holds a MA Degree in Economics with a specialization in Competition Policy and Regulatory Economics from Addis Ababa University. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the same institution. Her professional credentials are further bolstered by the CII Award in General Insurance, underscoring her commitment and expertise in the field. Her career has included significant roles as a Consultant, Trainer and Human Resource Manager at various institutions, including Abay and Enat Bank. Enye holds MA degree in Leadership & Management and BA in Management and Public Administration. She is a certified SIYB (Start and Improve Your Business) Master Trainer by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and a full member of CMC-GLOBAL INSTITUTE. She is also recognized as a Certified National Coach of Transformational Leadership through the UNDP program and a certified AFCoP (African Community of Practice) Facilitator.
